WMOM-FM targeted by contest scammers
Someone's targeting people who listen to or recognize Bay View Broadcasting's CHR/WMOM-FM (102.7fm, Pentwater). Ludington police tell WOOD-TV that a scammer called a Ludington phone number, pretending to be from the radio station. The scammer did a small contest (which the caller won!), and the scammer told the caller to visit a website which asked for a credit card number to pay a prize fee. 1200am returns as WMUZ
Earlier this year, Crawford Broadcasting purchased WCHB (1200am, Taylor) for $2 million. WCHB went silent in early August so that Crawford could accomplish some studio and transmitter engineering work. 1200am recently returned to the air with new call letters WMUZ ("1200 The Salt"), airing a Christian talk programming, including Alistair Begg and Dr. David Jeremiah. Crawford moved the WCHB call letters to their 1340am licensed to Royal Oak.
